The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking dynamic, motivated and experienced individuals to join the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group (SLG). Reporting directly to one of the organisation’s Deputy Commissioners, the successful candidates will be expected to direct and lead a Division responsible for an Operational, National Security or Operations Support portfolio. As a member of the SLG, the Assistant Commissioner contributes to the organisational direction, strategy and policy.
AFP is Australia’s national policing agency. The organisation enforces Commonwealth criminal law and protects Commonwealth interests from crime and security threats. AFP’s challenges include counter terrorism, human trafficking, cyber-crime, peace operations, protection and other transnational crimes. The organisation is Australia’s international law enforcement and policing representative with posts and missions in more than 30 countries.
Assistant Commissioner positions require the exercise of policing powers. Relevant tertiary qualifications will be favourably regarded, as well as extensive experience and knowledge in an area of expertise aligning with one or more of the AFP portfolios.
To be a contender for these positions, you will possess outstanding leadership, communication, networking and negotiation ability. Leadership experience in a relevant policing function is essential.
