Litchfield Municipality is situated on the outskirts of Darwin amid tropical rural bushland. With a population of 25,000, Litchfield residents enjoy a rural lifestyle in a prosperous area which combines a mix of rural residential, horticultural, agricultural and industrial interests within its boundaries.
We operate three waste transfer stations; at Howard Springs, Humpty Doo and Berry Springs. Council ensures that its operations have a great culture, valuing team work and celebrating success.
We currently have a work opportunity for a Plant Operator to complement our team of operators.
In this role, you will contribute to the safe and smooth running of our Waste transfer station. Your duties will include ensuring that waste materials are deposited in the correct areas at site and operating appropriate machinery to move waste into the compacting machine. Health and safety will be at the forefront of everything you do, to ensure you and your colleagues go home safely, at night!
You will possess proven experience in operating backhoes, bobcats and front end loaders. Furthermore, experience in waste management will be of assistance for this position. You will need to have the willingness to muck-in and manage waste, be a team player and provide an excellent customer service for our valued residents. Additionally, you will be happy to work shift work.
Key to your success will be your commitment to Work Health and Safety, your time management skills and your communication skills. After all, you are the face of Council, so need to ensure that we are represented well, at all times!
